Illinois Licensed Continuing Education Provider: #452.000135
Requirements: Illinois home inspectors currently require 12 Illinois licensed CE hours per two year renewal period, obtained by November 30 of even numbered years, as per IDFPR. Continuing education may be obtained in live classes or online classes. As of June, 2010, no more than 6 CE hours may be “elective” and a minimum of 6 CE hours (but up to 12) must be “mandatory”. Mandatory classes are defined in 1410.550 as the core technical subjects such as roofing, plumbing, structural, HVAC, etc. Elective classes are all other topics such as marketing, business practices, report writing, radon, mold, building codes, commercial inspections, etc.
Note that even for electives, every CE class must be approved by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) and will have a separate license number beginning with ‘454’. IDFPR requires a 25 question quiz to be completed for each class in order to receive the CE hours. For online classes, a proctored quiz is required to receive credits – we make this easy to do: just click on the Quiz Proctoring button below for more information.
